Extralinguistic cultural references (ECRs) rendered into subtitling: The case of the historical film series Diriliş: Ertuğrul

This article concerns itself with various aspects of subtitling as a form Audiovisual Translation (AVT), special focus on the constraints subtitler works under, difficulties involved in rendering cultural references, and different kinds strategies that have been proposed to deal them. The study is mainly centered taxonomy by Jorge Díaz-Cintas, Aline Remael, Santamaria Guinot. In first stage, English subtitles corresponding Extralinguistic Cultural References (ECRs) selected from sound track Turkish film series Diriliş: Ertuğrul analyzed light these strategies.
